Liposuction

Many people feel self conscious about their body appearance. Stubborn areas of fat causing, saddle bags, love handles, or double chins do not always resolve with diet and exercise. Liposuction is a surgical procedure used for the removal of these problem areas. Liposuction is to be considered as a contouring procedure that will help diminish these troubled areas. It is not a procedure that should be considered as an alternative for weight loss. The best results are achieved by individuals that are of ideal body weight or close to their ideal weight, but have problem areas. Liposuction permanently removes the fat.

Liposuction is done as a same day surgery. It can be done alone or in conjunction with another procedure to achieve optimal results. The procedure is done through small incisions. All of our surgeons use a Tumescent technique with their liposuction procedure. Tumescent is a mixture of medications that is infused in the fat layer before fat is removed. By using this technique the surgeon is able to make blood loss minimal. There is also a pain medication in the solution that will make you more comfortable. Then a fine cannula is inserted into the fat layer. Your surgeon may use an ultrasonic assisted liposuction cannula (UAL) The ultrasonic waves travel at approximately 26,000 vibrations per second. The fat cells implode. Another cannula is used to remove the imploded cells.. The surgeon will evaluate each client on an individual basis and make the recommendation that is right for you. Immediately after surgery, a girdle or compression garment most be worn in the surgical areas. This garment is generally worn for a period of six weeks. The areas where the surgery is performed will be sore and recovery can be from a few days to a couple of weeks depending upon how many areas are involved. UAL allows our surgeons to remove much more fat with much less risk or bloodloss than other techniques.

The procedure is cosmetic, meaning that it is not covered by insurance. After your initial consultation, our staff will provide you with the cost of the procedure.
